I finally got my new gears on. They are Yukon 4.56. I've only driven it from the shop to home so I can't really tell what's different yet. It shifts a lot better, and it seemed when the speedometer was on 70 that I was actually going 70! That be awesome if my speedo is back on. I'll probably have some more to report on it later....like mpg after I get her filled up a couple of times.

Now I gotta update my mods list, hehe!

Hey man give me a ballpark figure on what the new gears cost yea.  I want to gear my 05 a little deeper but with the snowboarding season coming up I dont think I have enough time to make the money will have to wait till next summer, or the summer after that, or the next one.

It was 350 for the parts and 400 for the labor. Expensive as hell...but it should pay off since gas is so high...and I drive 400-600 miles a week.

hey matt, how bout you have someone drive next to you and run their STOCK vehicle up to 70mph and you just go up and match them and see where your speedo stands? thats what ive done. bet your acceleration, and speed is back up. not to mention you probably dont have to give it as much gas to keep up the highway speed. should only take about 1/5 your throttle to keep it goin..... that should mean lots more gas milage on top of less stress on your drivetrain. make sure to get us a full write up on what has happened  Smiley

Update on the gears:

Well, first off my cruise control works properly again. Before I could not use it because it was full throttle all the time!

I believe my speedometer is back on or pretty close...need to check on that

I fueled her up and got 19.1 MPG 16.5 is the best I ever got before!

Yea...but that was straight highway driving  Embarrassed

I was sure I'd be able to hit 20! Hopefully it'll average around 17.5. Because it has been averaging around 14.5-15.5, which sucks!

hmm, id try reverting to a stock intake with a deckplate and K&N filter..... you wouldnt belive me but i actually got better milage once i got rid of my open elemnt filter. Undecided just a thought. try changing your thermostat to a 180 or 170 degree. that could also help some. what psi do you run your tires at? stuff like this will help a bit. it may get you the 1 or 2 extra miles per gallon out of it.

Definately try opening up the intake.  I went to 4.56's last month and installed the Amsoil filter and a Flowmaster 50 the same week.  I'm getting 20-21 on the highway.  Spedometer is still off about 2 mph but in the other direction now, reads faster than I'm going.
