Hey guys. even though I'm fairly convinced what I want to do, talk to me some more about a solid front axle. Is that something that is available from toyota or is it aftermarket stuff? What should i look for if I wanted to go that way?

well, for one: if you were to go that route, theres a few things youd need such as, a spring hanger kit, or as its also known as a SFA swap kit such as found here http://www.marlincrawler.com/sas.html <thats just few of many kits out there but it is a good example of what youd need to start with. another thing you would need to look into would be a front straight axle such as a chevy, or dodge 6 lug axle. as the IFS (independent front suspeension) trucks are slightly wider, the older style axles from toyota would need slight more modification to acomidate the width needed to match the rear tacoma axle so thats where a chevy or dodge axle would be a better starting point.

to do all this work of course youd need some of the heavier equipment such as torches to cut out all the ifs components out, and welder to weld all the new hardware in for the axle. theres many articles on it and diffrent ways to go about it. its all diffrent from person to person cus not everyone does the same set up, but the general idea is the same.
