Darkness is death's ignorance and the devils time

« on: October 27, 2005, 03:11:05 pm »

hey mat, whent to finish off some work to my truck before heading on this weekend's trip and just naturally came to me that we dont have a matinance forum on here. this forum should be STRICTLY informational only.

such information should contain tips as in, milage checks like u-joint lube periods; i didnt remember if i had done mine or not, and the annoying violent vibration i was getting in the driveline whent almost 90% away once i greased all the joints and d-shaft!! Shocked also for instance like the steering rack bushings check. this would be a place where questions specifically pertaining to items such as these can be asked. this forum can be kept clean by advising that once the question is answered, that the thread be kept clean of any off-subject clutter talk. any and all other posts not relating to or deriving from the subject can be deleted or removed. what do you think?

That's a great idea, but how do you make it only information. Someone still has to post it. It would have to be a send to matt and matt put it up kind of thing. There's always more work for you Matt ... dont worry , we keep it coming!

no, not really. you could be allowed to post in it as far as informational posts....... but as far as posts or responses that tend to veer off subject will be deleted or removed by the MOD's. say for example.

hey, i found out that recomended chassis lube, every 6000 miles. <-(keeper)

hey guys, i need to do an oil change, what kind of oil should i use? i do ________________... <-(keeper)

does anyone know what part number i use for a K&N air, oil filter?? <-(keeper)

hey, i found out i can make a ____________________ tool to make changing the tranny filter easier.... <-(keeper) (this is what we wanna stay clear of)-> .....cus i whent to the parts store to go buy the tool but then i ran into my friend blah blah blah blah blah.........

get the point guys?? keep anything you post in here clean and to the point. that way anyone searching for info on the site, per say a guest will see this, go "hey wow, i found what i need. that was easy! mabe i should become a member" or something to that effect. searching for topics and information will be easy if someone needs reference later in the future and doesent have to dig through lots of useless rants and stories.

I think a great link for a maintenance section would be this link which can provide a maintenance checklist for every toyota vehicle (namely our Tacos, Tundras and 4Runners).

I think a great idea would be to just post it in the general tech question area and sticky it and lock it. (so no one can reply)

It is also possible to make a board where users can post but no one can reply. That way I wouldn't have to post everything, lol.
