Got some new tires

I finally broke down and replaced my BFG AT's with some BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 size 255/85/16. Big ol meaty suckers for sure. No major issues in the front but I'm a little worried about the rear. I'll let you know and will get some pics up soon.

Those look Awesome !   (....and so does the lift in your Garage !)  Do you have or are you planning a 4:10 or such gear mod as well?

Ive had an older gen of BFG Mud Terrains and they are simply awesome & unstoppable offroad.   Unfortunately they proved for me  to be 'unstoppable' on ice too, and not in a good way, mostly  because of no siping on the lugs.   This isnt a BFG thing,   i think its common to all M/T's .   The new gens may be better.   I know Good[for a] Year started siping their M/Ts.   If you live in a area that gets black ice or icy conditions,   you may want to have some level of siping done (there are places that do that)

That's my brothers shop. The TRD comes with 4:10 stock but regearing would be a great idea. Unfortunatly I don't think it's in the budget right now.

Yea, I don't often do alot of on road driving unless we get some real serious snow.I have a company car that does most of my daily commuting. We'll see how it goes.

I'm sill trying to figre out the best way to gain a little clearane in the rear to eliminate the possiblilty of contact between the body and tire.

What did you do with the ebrake cable?

the kit came with a extension bracket, just a flat peice of metal, no big deal

I ended up slapping my stock overload under my Deaver leaf springs. That lifted the truck about 3/4" in the rear but i just cranked the front coils up a little and its close to level. It did stiffen it up a bit and I lost some upward wheel travel but I think it was a good trade off. With the reduced load capacity with the Deavers my truck would sag a little in the rear every winter once I put my sand bags in so I kinda like to change. I don't know yet if there are any other adverse affects wth this setup but I'll be out trying to find them. I'll let you know. As far as the ebrake bracket; I just put some spacers under the center bracket and extended the two outer ones with a flat piece of steel. The tires look great!

Now that I've had my tires a couple months I thought I'd let you all know what I think.

These tires are obviously bad ass in mud. Out on the trails on a warm day when the snow is mostly melted away......they rock! Much dfferent than my old AT's. On the road they also do fine. Heavy slushy snow is no problem and on dry pavement they are pretty quiet and handle well. I think the narrower tire is an improvement since the steering components aren't as overtaxed as they are with a wider tire. I'm not really all that impressed with them in snow. On the road they do pretty well again mostly because they are narrow but they really don't bite that well during turns. Straight ahead they dig pretty well even on the trail but thay don't hold you in place in an off camber situation. I ended up getting them siped which helped a ton. With that done they are OK in the snow but I'd recomend trying something else if you plan a lot of snow wheeling.
