I have searched a bit,  didnt see a lot of tacoma MPG threads recently, ....so I thought Id start one

Whats everyone getting for MPG?

Ive read some horror stories, mostly on other forums, stating an upper bound of ~15 mpg. My F350 diesel that i dumped (long story) got ~17-18 all-around and 22 hwy.    I am thrilled to say I am getting ~20mpg +/- 0.5 mpg so far. Running non evil-ethanol , or 91 super does seem to do the best.,   Ive read the auto's do the same or better in mpg than the 5spds, but not much data on the 6spd manuals, which I have.

This weekend i plan to change the diffs fluid , mantrans and transfer with royal purple synthetic.   My experience in the past is that should yeild about 0.5 mpg, i will report my findings

Yea I have a heavy foot too and notice a huge difference if I keep it under 74 on the highway but that doesn't happen very often. Before I lifted my truck I was averaging around 20 (it's a 201 with an automatic) which I was OK with. With my lift a larger tires I think I'm around 18 highway and thats by trying to conserve. If I drive "normally" which is around 78 on the highway that number drops significantly.I'll try to check it this weekend.

I can tell you that 30 laps around a 3/8 mile race track in 4 low, up againts the rev limiter will burn almost a half a tank.  Grin

I did change all the drive fluids over the weekend,  I only had about 145 mi's on the tank ,  10 of which were pre-change.   took 7.1 gals,   for a 20.4 mpg run, but,  it has been like Venus here all week in the northeast,  as AC has been cranked the whole time.   Im still hoping I I'll see 20.75 or even 21 with it.

aside - Geez the diff, tranny and xfer changes were a pleasure,  took less than 2 hours and I had several interruptions.
Other vehicles have been a 8 hour nightmare

Sounds like a reasonable expectation.

Last time I checked it wasn't so hot. About 17mpg. Then I stopped checking. That makes me feel better =)

My wife's RAV does terrible as well, it only gets 22mpg on a good day, and it's a 4cyl. Maybe I should start using a different gas station?

Matt, Danstoy
do you guys have autos?   Its not supposed to matter according to consumer reports, but I wonder.
The other of the many variables could be the 'formula' your state mandates for fuel,   If you are getting more [evil] ethanol,   then its probably a good explaination of the less mpg
