I have an 04 tacoma and I had the exact opposite problem, when I would accel from a light or just cruising down the road the RPM's would just drop off like I let my foot off the pedal but I didn't, toyota replaced the throttle body 3 times over the years and it was fixed it each time for about a year, the thing is it didn't set any trouble codes even tho the accuator sensor and the TPS didn't match, that should have set a code, so I do belive that toyota does have a software problem and not a hardware problem

Yup thats kinda strange. Mine has always tried to surge forward after a few seconds of setting at a red light.

My wofes camry had the opposite problem. The accel would get stuck closed. She would drive up to the red light and then when the light turns green. She would hit the gas and it would not move at all. Wierd!
