I am have a serious squealing noise. It is not the belt slipping checked that. It is extremely annoying. Have the compressor checked and it is leaking. I am thinking that it is the clutch going out since this squealing is very consistent in speed. It sounds the same at 80mph that it does at 10mph.

I think that it could be the catalytic converter, the a/c compressor clutch, or something in the rear end/ diff.

Anyone had any of these symptoms?

Doesn't sound like a converter problem to me. You may be in the right area with the clutch though. It's hard to diagnose without seeing/hearing the problem or narrowing down if it's coming from the front, the rear, the center, etc. A/C compressor? Does it make the noise when your not moving? If not it isn't the AC. What happens when you push in the clutch? Does it change?

Give us some more info.

Well I had the compressor looked at and it has a slow leak. When I am stopped and the A/C is on it makes a much different growl almost. I have had people all over my truck and it seems to come from under the passenger seat. I removed the CAT cover and there were no rocks or anything. I am going to see a guy this weekend and see what he says.

Truck runs great still. No check engine lights. About a 20 percent loss in MPGs. Hoping that this is a 200 buck fix. I am hoping that it is the CAT although the A/C has been ordered. Thats a trip that will cost a grad.

BYE BYE SUPERCHARGER. Sad

sounds like a idler pully, try taking the belts off and start it to see if the noise goes away, the a/c has a seperate belt so if thats the problem you can leave the belt off and still drive it untill you can fix it, but i think it's just the idler pully.

I had thought that it might be a pulley. I can have that checked.

The sqeal and rattle is also effected by large bumps in the road.

Yea, idler pully is a good thought. Open the hood and look very carefully. You might be able to see a wobble. Mine made a lot of strange noses before it came loose enough that I had no doubt what it was  Grin It is a pretty common problem.

sounds like you have 2 different problems...if the noise is only there whhen the truck is moving...you need the suspension and drive train looked at, if the noise is there when the motor is running and the truck is'nt moving and the noise changes with the RPM's... then look at the pulleys and A/C comp, BTW a leaking compressor wont cause the noise.

if the noise is only there when driving down the road and not when your standing still with the motor running at idle or reving, it's not the idler. ( did i say that right?)
