I choose the road less traveled

« on: September 03, 2009, 08:53:15 am »

I've been hearing a little noise latey and thought it was just a stone in a heat shield again but Sundy I found out I was wrong. I lost power steering and noticed my battery light came on at the same time. I figured I just broke a belt and pulled over to take a look. I saw the belt was still there but real loose and with a little more looking I discovered the harmonic balancer was loose. It took me about an hour to take all the belts off and put the pully back on but the keyway is wobbled out so I'm installing a new pully. I was able to get it home anyway. The darn thing is almost $400.00 new and a used one is hard to find. One of the parts guys told me it was "a popular part" so this must be fairly common. I wonder if there's a TSB on it? Has anyone else had this problem?

No TSB's but I have seen it before, no real reason but if you had a timming belt done the crank bolt may not have been tighten enough, should be 185ftlb.
