Hey guys how are y'all doing today? Anyways, I purchased a 05 Taco Prerunner Access Cab TRD model and want to trade it in. i've only had it for about 10 months now but man I wish I would have gotten a 4wd model taco instead. The winters coming up and I go boarding alot, so not having the 4wd option is going to be a pain in the ass. I'm going to have to buy snow chains and put them on and take them off on every trip. When I bought the truck I had no idea what 4wd was all about. A friend of mine told me that i would be fine with a Prerunner and TRD package for most of my needs and so that is what i got.( Don't listen to your friends when it comes to spending big bucks...do your own damn research Undecided) Now I am stuck with this pretty much brand new truck and i already want to trade it in. Help guys any opinions on this matter? should i just stick it out for the next 4 years of payments i have left on the truck, or should i do a trade in on an 06 4wd fully decked out with vsc, lsd, trac and te other goodies for the winter. i downpaid about 5 grand and have paid 380 for about ten months now so i have about close to 9k paid on the truck already. what do you guys think? should i just mod the heck out of my still new black prerunner or trade it in for something more functional to my uses? Prerunner guys help me out. any regrets?

glad to have you on the boards Wink

As a fellow prerunner owner I can honestly say, I've never had a problem needing 4wd.  with my baja claw tires, ive even gone off roading through mountain trails in the snow, might even have a video somewhere of it.  I mean, i totally agree, I wish I had gone with a 4x4 ext cab,  but oh well, I kept my prerunner and love every bit of it.

I've owned a lot of vehicles in my life but my 2001 Tacoma is my first 4 wheel drive and I'll never go back to a 2 wheel drive truck. I loved all of my trucks but, this truck is a blast! If you can afford it get out now before you invest any more and go get what you want.

Hey thanks so much guys...so far, I have yet to have any problems with my trd prerunner. I've taken it wheeling several times and it did just great, of course I did not do any mud or anything crazy but did a lot of trail runs and the truck has made all of them pretty fun. Only concern is mainly the winter. I have a season pass to big bear and the roads get pretty icy during the winter. Either 4wd or snow chains are required and I think it would just be a pain in the ass to put snow chains on every time. Does anyone know how much I will lose on the vehicle on a trade in? I have about 9k on the car so far and i bought the truck for about 25k otd. 23k + taxes and licensing. Thanks for the quick replies guys and keep your opinions coming. Thanks Azn

If you trade it you will lose your shirt. I'd try to sell it. It's an 05 so depending on the maintenance and condition you? could probaly ask 18K or more. Check Kelly Blue Book and see what they say the value is. They give trade in values too so at least you'll have some ideas. www.kellybluebook.com

LOL! Yeah I go around alot on CT TN TS for information about my truck. Its my first truck and I'm the only one out of my friends with a Prerunner so I come here to read your guy's posts. I really learned a crapload from you guys and when you were advertising for this site a while back, i was pretty excited about another Taco forum site. Tacos rock and im glad i got one over a Frontier cause there is just really nothing out for those guys. Glad im in the Taco family and nothing else Grin

I can vouch for Life being able to really do good offroad. We went down a place out my way and he did awsome. went everywhere that my truck did and even up a hill climb that was really impressive. I can say that I"m sure that you will be fine with your prerunner. there are lots of things out there and how often do you really think that you would use the 4wheel drive anyways.

I know I have learned to drive most places not in 4wheel drive , so the best of luck - can't wait to seewhat you decide man. Nice to see another 05. love them, but can't afford them. lol.
