East Coast 4Runner Jamboree 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The 8th annual East Coast 4Runner Jamboree (EC4RJ) will be held at Rausch Creek Off Road Park (www.rc4x4.org) in Joliett, PA. Base camp will be at Echo Valley Campground (www.echovalleycamp.com) in Tremont, PA. The Jamboree will be held on Friday, June 20-Sunday, June 22, 2008. For those of you that wish to camp for free, camping at the park is available as well. The EC4RJ is an event which caters to all levels of rock crawling and trail riding. First time wheelers as well as competition buggy drivers will feel at home at Rausch Creek Off Road Park.

The East Coast 4Runner Jamboree first began in 2001 as a small get together for fellow Toyota off road enthusiasts that met online. Since then, it has grown into an annual east coast run in which some have traveled almost 1000 miles to attend. The EC4RJ has received coverage from Toyota 4WD owners magazine and 4Wheeler magazine. We plan to have 1 or 2 more photographers/editors this year.

We are anticipating the largest turnout for the 2008 EC4RJ. I would say anticipating 75-100 rigs and 150+ people for this event is a pretty safe assumption. We are putting forth a much larger effort this year in terms of sponsorship and advertising for the event. There will be no "formal registration fees" for this event. The only fees incurred will be the park fees at Rausch and the campground fees at Echo Valley. T-shirts will be printed with the EC4RJ logo as well as all the sponsors who choose to donate items for the event. If anyone wishes to purchase a shirt they will be on sale for what we paid for them. We are not making any profit on this event. The Toyota Trail Team will be at the event helping out first timers and showing them “the ropes” in terms of rock crawling and trail riding. There will also be several guided trail rides to accommodate all skill levels. We have reserved 2 large pavilions at Echo Valley Campground where we plan to hold the raffle and possibly dinner Saturday night.

I am currentlly working with Allen Dickenson, Matt Rasnake and Todd Bishop. Matt and Todd are working on sponsors for the FJ crowd. Allen and I are working on the rest of the sponsors. Our preliminary sponsor list contains 35+ companies that manufacture Toyota specific parts, camping gear and provide Toyota Services. I know it is still early in the game. I will keep everyone notified as we receive sponsor approval.

Jay Kopycinski will be attending to photograph and write up an article for 4WD and Sport Utility Magazine

Thank You...I forgot to do so....my bad Embarrassed

This is def going to be the largest Jambo yet! We're striving to have a LOT more stocker to mildly built rigs at the event this year and with the help from Toyota and the FJ Cruiser Trail Team as well as others involved it should work out very well. This is the reason for posting this so much earlier than we have in the past years. We realize that on the surface that this event was for the hardcore only crowd which it never was or will be. It is possibly because it was the hardcore crowd that started this event but it was to draw in the stocker and mild built rigs and show them that their rigs are very capable and that wheeling is for EVERYONE from all levels and that we can get together at the same time and just have FUN! So PLEASE DON'T FEEL INTIMIDATED! This event is for you and you most likely will never have as much fun than you will have at a EC4RJ.

Any more information on this event?

What would you like to know? We have a lot of planning going on but we're holding off on the meetings until after the holidays. We're gonna have more sponsors this year and a event within the event but we still have a lot of details to sort out to see if it's even posssible. This is the 8th year and it has grown more and more each year so it gets a little easier to get the sponsors to step up.Alot of them like to donate to large events or ones with a solid history.Well we're trying for both.Like I said this is the 8th year and with Toyota stepping up with assigning the FJ Trail Team to the event as well as more magazine coverage. Jay Kopycinski who is a freelance writer/photographer has cover this event several times and this time there is supposed to be one or two more writers there. I will post the details as I learn of them.

WHAT A BLAST!! We had a great turnout this year. One group came all the way from Venezuala to be there!(AWESOME) We had a great time and very little carnage in our group.Tim's rig had starting issues but ran great once it started.Red broke his rear drive shaft in half on Toombstone and 4xfred broke a cv shaft. Not bad for a whole weekend of running black trails.I left Sunday do to my neck being too stiff,I could just barely turn my head in either direction and figured all I would do is make it worse so I packed up and headed for home.I can move my head more today than yeasterday but still stiff as hell.I don't have any pics as of yet I forgot my camera.I will be getting pics and video from cc89iroc and 4xfred here soon so I'll post them when I get them.
