I'm looking at getting the American Racing Victor 17x8s.  The reasons I want 17s is just because 16s are just a tad too small and the 17s will look a little better but they wont be ridiculously huge (cough cough 22" wheels cough cough).

Anyways, I'm just wondering if 265/75/17s are easy to find tires.  I'm not sure what tires I could get in that size.. I'm not looking for any tread thats really agressive, just something like Rugged Terrain-All terrain.  All terrain would be my limit.  I'm not just limiting my choices to BFGs either.  I'm just not sure how common 265/75/17s are.

The 265/70/17 is very common but the 265/75/17 is not (I can't even think of anyone that makes it).  As a matter of fact a quick search on the tire rack produces 78 results in that tire size.

If you are running 265/75/16 right now (I'm assuming you are) the 265/70/17 is almost identical in size and would be pretty much a direct replacement (along with your new wheels)  of your stock 16s.  Be careful when you order new wheels and check your backspacing.

actually I have 265/70/16s right now and I think Im going to stick with that wheel size instead on using 17" wheels with the 265/70/17.

So you're saying that 265/70/16s have less height than 265/70/17s?

Also... all the available backspacing configurations for the wheel are listed on the link in my original post.  What backspacing will I need?  What backspacing do I have now with my stock 16" aluminums?

Your current backspacing is 4.5 so you will need that at a minimum.

Thats right, 265/70/16 are about an inch shorter (about 30.6) than 265/70/17 (about 31.6).  Of course actual specs depend on the manufacturer.

interesting.  Okay... well i think ill stick with 16s then.  The Victor only comes in 4.5" backspacing.  Just curious.. would more backspacing be better for certain circumstances?

More backspacing will cause you clearance issues. Less will set your wheels out further.

Are you at stock height?  If so you'd better stick as close to the factory backspacing as possible.
