The following is a list of parts that will not be re-used during installation: 4 - 12mm nuts with washers |

To begin with, we start unbolting things. We'll start with the farthest away from the TB and move in. You'll first want to remove the Air Cleaner Hose w/ Resonator from the MAFS (Mass Air Flow Sensor), which is connected to your airbox. You'll need to disconnect the plugged in wire harness from the MAFS and then with a 10mm socket loosen the clamp and pull the hose away from the MAFS. |

Next you'll want to remove the Air Cleaner Hose w/ Resonator from the Intake Air Connector on the other end. To do this, just take a 10mm socket, loosen the clap and pull it away from the Intake Air Connector. Now push the Air Cleaner Hose over to the left as far as you can to make as much room as possible. |

This step is probably one of the biggest problems you may have. The Air Intake Connector is attached to the TB on the right, but on the left, underneath it is secured with 2 - 12mm nuts* just above the header cover. The one furthest to the front of the truck I used a 12mm socket and was able to remove it. However the socket would not fit in the space for the rear one. So I used an adjustable to get in there and work it loose. It's aggravating, but take your time and be patient. I have a 3" body lift so I was able to go in from the the wheel well, any other angle seemed impossible.
* These two nuts will not be re used as the AIC is now 1" further back after the TBS install and the bolts will not reach the holes above the header. |

Now you're going to remove the Air Intake Connector from the Throttle Body. To do this, just loosen the two clamps with a 10mm socket and then pull the AIC away from the TB. You'll notice alot of hoses and stuff are in the way. Disconnect what you can, but be sure to remember where they go. I opted to leave it all connected and make things harder for myself, haha. So yeah, the more you remove, the easier the job will be. After disconnected, push it as far left as you can to make room. |

Finally you're at the Throttle Body. It is connected to the engine via 2 - 12mm nuts on top and 2 - 12mm bolts on the bottom. Using a 12mm socket should have them out in no time! After the bolts are removed, pull the Throttle Body away from the engine and you should see two threaded screws sticking out of the top holes in the engine. Using my pliers I rocked them back and forth until the loosened and then procedded to unscrew them. When they are out they look like double sided screws. |

| Next step is to remove the original gasket from the either the TB or the engine side, whichever it is stuck to. Mine was stuck tot he engine side to with a small sharp knife and peeled it off, then carefully scrapped any small bits still stuck to the engine side and the TB. Be sure not to get into it to much and scrape or scratch into the metal! | |
| Take a rag or two or three and soak them in Simple Green (thanks Brett for the tip) and then take your time cleaning the TB, on the inside and on the face. Do the same on the engine side. | |
|
When all the cleaning is done (you should have some filthy rags) it's time to install your new TB. I started by positioning the top two 1/8" long 1/8"(6mm) hex bolts through the TB, then placed one gasket hanging on the bolts. Next, take the TBS and slide it onto the bolts, followed by the other gasket. Now attach the whole thing (TB + TBS) to the engine and secure the top two bolts. This will assure the everything on the bottom will be lined up. Now take your two 2 5/8" long 1/8"(6mm) hex bolts and secure the bottom. Guess what? Accept for reconnecting the Air Intake Connector and Air Cleaner Hose w/ Resonator, YOU'RE DONE! |

After you re-connect all your hoses and have everything nice and tight, go ahead and start her up. Give the pedal a little push and you should be able to hear a soft whirring "sssssss"... similar to that of a turbo, but much quieter. Congratualtions on your new Throttle Body Spacer, enjoy! |
